Die Pinakothek der Moderne im Museumsquartier München wurde vom Architekturbüro Stephan Braunfels geplant.
Das Gebäude wurde im Jahre 2002 fertiggestellt.
Das Museum vereint 4 unabhängige Bereiche:
Die Sammlung moderne Kunst, die neue Sammlung sowie
Das Architekturmuseum der Technischen Universität München sowie die staatliche graphische Sammlung.
Die zentrale Rotunde mit einem Durchmesser von 30 Metern ist spektakulär und flutet das Foyer mit Tageslicht.
Sichtbeton ist im Gebäude ein allgegenwärtiges Stilmittel.
